welcome to the nycrp staff team as a member of the nycrp staff, you play a key role in maintaining order, clarity, and professionalism within the community you are expected to uphold respectful communication and provide support, even during times of doubt or uncertainty this handbook contains the essential resources and guidelines to help you carry out your responsibilities effectively you’ve earned your place on the team, but continued consistency, initiative, and strong performance are what will secure your position — and create opportunities for advancement if you cannot find the information you need in this handbook, reach out to another staff member or open a support ticket for assistance chain of command you are expected to follow the chain of command for issue escalation and resolution (ier) if you have an issue with a moderator (such as filing a report), you must bring it to internal affairs (ia) if you have an issue with a manager, go to the manager supervisor (not the staff director) always address issues at the lowest appropriate level before moving upward keep in mind that the higher you escalate — especially to shr — response times will be slower due to heavier caseloads do not bypass the chain simply to involve senior leadership going straight to the “top” without a valid cause disrupts workflow, delays resolution, and will result in disciplinary action for violating this policy ownership owner c0 owner assistant owner directive director deputy director assistant director management management supervisor (shr) staff manager internal affairs maintain spag in public channels, on duty, and in tickets always explain the reason for the punishment quota all staff members are required to meet a minimum of 3 hours per week, regardless of rank, unless specified otherwise exception – shr+ (so co rule) senior high ranks (shr+) follow the so co rule (stay on–clocked out) this functions much like a salaried position — their contribution is measured by responsibility and authority rather than hourly activity under this policy, shr members may enforce rules, issue conduct decisions, and handle moderator calls without being subject to standard quotas in addition, shr members are not required to wear a moderator uniform (optional at their discretion) drive a staff vehicle serve on the leo team however, shr operating under the so co rule must identify their name and rank only when actively enforcing their authority in practice, this means an shr does not need to identify itself during normal interaction, unless it is necessary to establish authority in a moderator related situation the so co rule is designed to provide flexibility, allowing senior ranks to prioritize roleplay immersion and effective enforcement without the limitations of hourly tracking unlike hourly tracked moderators, shr positions carry broader responsibilities — including community affairs, discord oversight, departmental management, and higher level decision making because of this, tracking time is not a fair or meaningful measure of their contribution instead, shr roles exist to oversee and support the community as a whole responsibilities and expectations as a member of the nycrp staff team, you are expected to uphold the highest standards of conduct this includes always being professional, polite, respectful, and mature when representing the staff team enforcing rules fairly and neutrally, without bias or favoritism remaining calm and composed during stressful situations, arguments, or when dealing with rule breakers using appropriate language in all settings — voice chats, public channels, and private conversations insults or derogatory remarks are strictly prohibited maintaining active participation within the server and your assigned boards responding to reports and member questions in a timely and respectful manner avoiding power tripping or abuse of staff permissions; all actions must be reasonable and justifiable rule of thumb if you cannot justify your enforcement with sound judgment — or if you would not be confident defending your decision under review — then do not make that decision keeping all staff discussions and information confidential, unless specifically authorized to share by the server manager setting a positive example for others, as your behavior reflects the entire team when clocked in as a moderator, wearing the official moderator uniform while enforcing rules or patrolling moderators as observers while acting in a moderator capacity, you are considered a third party observer to roleplayers, you do not exist within the scene this means do not participate in rp events such as leo chases do not use a moderator vehicle for traffic stops or other in character enforcement (e g , pulling someone over for running a red light) your authority applies only to server rules and enforceable guidelines — not city traffic laws or roleplay scenarios put simply you are not a cop, and you may not act as one disciplinary hierarchy for staff nycrp progressive disciplinary system (pds) nycrp enforces staff infractions through a progressive disciplinary system (pds) each tier escalates in severity, with higher levels carrying greater consequences these points mirror the conduct issued in discord (cid), meaning that for each warning or infraction in discord, through birb, the points reflect here only a staff manager+ has the authority to issue warnings through melonly , as these directly affect a moderator’s ability to access and use the panel any misuse of this authority could result in moderators being improperly suspended disciplinary tiers warning 1 – 2 points issued in melonly suspension 1 – 6 points (4 day suspension) warning 2 – 8 points suspension 2 – 12 points (12 day suspension) audit period & job at risk (jar) once you reach 12 points (after two warnings and two suspensions), any further infraction — even a single point — places you into an audit period during this period you are formally designated as job at risk (jar) you will be placed on a permanent, non expiring suspension pending hr review no appeals are allowed at this stage, as all prior disciplinary steps have already been exhausted
